     About five minutes from the cabin is Narrows Dam and the Little Missouri River.  The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission (AGFC) releases thousands of rainbow trout during the year at various places downstream from the dam.  If you are planning a trip to do a little trout fishing be sure to check the generation schedule before coming.  Here is a shortcut to their site.  Narrows Dam generation schedule.

    I recently came back from my first fly fishing trip on the Little Missouri with Jeff and this may not have been such a good idea.  There most definitly is fly fishing gear in my future. This was not only fun but challenging.  There is no doubt that without Jeff's guidance I would have pulled out all my remaining hairs trying to figure out how to cast a fly smoothly.

   He worked with me for about two hours practicing the different casts and explaining the  mechanics of fly casting.  After going over the baisics, we tied on a fly and started fishing.  I think it was the fourth cast, when I got my first bite and landed my first rainbow trout.  These little fish can really put up a fight. The second one I landed was considerably larger, but did not fight as hard as the first.  Jeff showed me the differences in the two and in made sense. 

He is very knowlegeable not only about the trout, but about the river and environment as a whole.   Without a doubt I will be giving him another call, once I get my own gear and practice some on my own.
